Help Shape the Kanaka Creek Elementary PAC Budget for 2026

By Monika · October 4, 2026 at 7:55 PM

The 2026 budget for the Kanaka Creek Elementary PAC has not been approved yet, and we want your voice in it. Every parent and guardian at our school is a PAC member, so you can take part in deciding how funds are raised and spent. Here is what is being planned.

Where our funds come from

Our funds come from fundraising events and campaigns run by parent volunteers, along with proceeds from the hot lunch program through Munch a Lunch. Donations and grants add to this when available.

Where we are proposing to use it

Every dollar raised stays at Kanaka Creek Elementary and is spent on students here. The proposed budget focuses on these areas:

  • Playground and school equipment: items the school district budget does not always cover

  • Classroom supplies: extra materials requested by teachers

  • Field trips: helping keep trips affordable for all families

  • Events and community building: family nights, appreciation events, and celebrations

  • Operating costs and a small reserve: a buffer for unexpected needs

These priorities are still a draft. They can change based on what families tell us.

How the budget gets approved

The PAC executive prepares the proposed budget, and members discuss it and vote at a general meeting. Once it is approved, the details will be recorded in the meeting minutes on the Meeting Minutes page of this website.

Attend our next meeting to participate

This is the moment when your input matters most. At the next PAC meeting you can:

  • Hear the proposed budget explained in plain language

  • Ask questions

  • Suggest changes or new ideas

  • Vote on the final budget

You do not need to prepare anything, and you are welcome to simply listen. Here is how to find the meeting:
